Madkhal ilā Ṭalab al-ʿIlm

This course provides advanced methodological and conceptual training in the study of knowledge within the Islamic intellectual tradition. It is designed both for students at the beginning of their academic path and for those engaged in further scholarly development. The program is based on the analysis of classical textual corpora, extended instructional experience with scholars and students, and selected contributions from contemporary research in neuroscience, cognitive psychology, and educational sciences.

It addresses a short introduction to epistemology, the introductory principles of the disciplines (al-Mabādiʾ al-ʿasharah), methods of textual analysis, preparation for attending and benefiting from the dars, classification of the sciences (taqsīm al-ʿulūm), stages of scholarly development, formation of cognitive mastery (malakāt), conditions and obstacles to learning, and the acquisition of specialized terminology.
